Boston Inspiring Connections Outdoors
Boston ICO
The Boston ICO Chapter has been serving Boston area youth since 1994. We have worked with community agencies in Dorchester, Roxbury, South Boston, East Boston, Revere and Chelsea, representing backgrounds including African American, Haitian, Cape Verdean, Central and South American, Cambodian and Vietnamese.
In 1976 the Sierra Club’s San Francisco Bay Chapter established the first ICO group. Today, there are over 50 ICO groups nationwide, conducting outings for roughly 14,000 participants annually.
Since 1994, we’ve been planning, organizing and leading trips year-round to natural areas in Massachusetts and throughout the northeast. Some of our most common adventures include:
· Maple sugaring, nature walks and photography in the spring;
· Canoeing, kayaking, swimming, biking, berry picking and sailing in the summer;
· Camping, hiking, apple picking, and farm visits in the fall; and
· Snowshoeing, sledding, skating, and cross country skiing in the winter.
